The best compliment I’ve ever received was from a parent who said, “My son LOVES coming to library.”  The second best was when a student told his mom his librarian was Goldilocks.

Making the library a fun place is my goal.  I want children to equate reading, exploring, and books with successful, positive experiences in a friendly and inviting place.  One of my favorite things to do is create exciting displays to draw the students in.  To my surprise, one of the most successful, was my “Winter Sports” display.  All I did was throw an old snowboard and some skates in the window with a few books and the kids went nuts!

I started out as a high school English teacher.  When I found myself in the library more often than my classroom, and enjoying it a whole lot more, I decided to go back to school and get my degree.  I have a Masters in Library Science with School Media certification.  I am also certified to teach English, grades six through twelve.

While in graduate school, I worked in two public libraries in Youth Services.  I found my talent for puppets and reading aloud to little ones.  I took a job as a school librarian at Ichabod Crane Primary School (K-2) in Valatie, NY right after graduation.  I served the students and faculty there for seven wonderful years.

In 2006, I sent a few game ideas to Highsmith, Inc.  After what seemed like forever in production, they are now available for a mere $24.95 through the website or catalog.  I am pretty excited about that and hope more of my game ideas will available for purchase in the future.

Currently, when not working on fun library games, I am taking my own little one to library story times and playgrounds.
